African By Art (2023)
The 2023 Aftermath Series discusses the embodiment of what it means to come out on the other side reborn and stronger than ever before. Being diagnosed in February of 2022, Sheanni took a year off from painting to rediscover what it means to live everyday in creation. Sheanni faced homelessness for the starting point of 2022 living in homeless shelters in Brooklyn, NY.
New York has become one of Sheanni's home and with that gained a perspective on what it means to be an adult artist while living disabled. Nevertheless Sheanni has prevailed by making connections with Non-Profits such as Housing Works & now Gallery23NY.
Housing Works is an organization that fights for funding and legislation to insure that people living with HIV/AIDS have access to quality housing, healthcare, HIV prevention & treatment, among other lifesaving services. “Living in Creation” is a motto Sheanni lives by and continues to preach through their art.
